ahh this beautiful daughter of our's.......this bundle of love, joy, and pure happiness has been such a blessing to us and has been absolutely amazing during this most difficult time. she is so funny and continues to keep us smiling. in fact, if we are out somewhere and a complete stranger is not smiling, she will look at me and say "mommy, he don't look happy". i just smile and hope that the stranger didn't hear us. "why mommy, why he not happy?" ahh, she makes my heart melt.
she was so excited to be a big sister. she was moving from her nursery to a big girl room so that her brother could have his own spot. she went through target and helped me register for him and picked out everything she could find that was pink and had princesses on it. i had to tell her over and over that baby brother's favorite color would probably be blue. so cute! she liked to play with his bottles and had decided she would carry his blanket around until he got here. she would even have tea parties and set the table for mom, dad, sallie and baby brother. she was ready to give him a bottle and a paci, probably at the same time. :-) i am not exactly sure she understood what having a baby brother would mean, but i do know she would have been such a great sis!
she knows now that richie is in heaven with jesus and the "birdies" (doves) that were released at his service. i feel like she "just go it" about everything that was going on. she was so well behaved while we were at the hospital. she knew i had a boo boo and had to see my doctor and she knew baby brother was sick and couldn't come home with us.
what i wasn't expecting, was her incredible ability to help me. she has been so uplifting and encouraging. i know it sounds silly that a 2 1/2 year old could do this, but she has. just the other day i was putting her down for a nap (this is the time we really visit about things) she looked at me and said "mommy, baby brother's not in your tummy any more?" i said, no sweetie he is not, do you know where he is? she looked at me and said in a drawn out descriptive voice:
"uh huh......he is in his big white castle, with his white hat on, and his white gloves and his white shirt and his white shoes"
my eyes quickly filled with tears and i thought for sure i would just lose it. but in a brief moment, a smile appeared and my heart filled with happiness. she was exactly right and how could i be the least bit sad.......he was in his castle. don't we all look forward to the day we will be able to live in our castle?
i am so thankful for our children and for all that they have taught me and continue to teach me.

Mrs. Morris :) I am so proud to call you a friend, and I am so honored to be in the "mommy club" with gals like you. Not sure how I got so lucky to have such strong, brave and well-spoken friends, but I sure am lucky to have you! I love the sun-powered light too. Isn't that the greatest most comforting "thing." Kiss that sweet girl of yours, and I can't wait for her to get a hold of Kohen-Now, that will make you smile! Ha! Talk to you very soon---well, hopefully we will see you in June, but I have to buy a house first! I've already sent Misty to house shop for me. She checked out one house, and we haven't decided on it yet. Oh, this is stressful! :) Miss you!
I just love that story. i hope you don't mind but I have shared it with everyone I know. I think it gives us all a glimpse of hope and faith for what is waiting on us all!
